New Problems of Fundamental and Applied Geological Science of the Kola Region

The paper presents research material substantiating a new concept of a long-term (3.1-1.6 Ga) pulsation development of the Kola Precambrian collision structure. Updated prognostication and metallogenic inferences are offered on the main types of the region mineral deposits: PGEs, diamonds, oil and gas, construction and decorative stone, and deposits hosted by alkaline intrusions. Geoeconomic and geopolitical aspects of the development of the Murmansk region are considered. An emphasis is made on the potential of the geological education programme which was successfully started and has been carried out on the Kola Peninsula on the basis of the Murmansk State Technical University and Petrozavodsk University.

Geochemical Features of Fluids and Сorg Distribution in Metamorphic Rocks of the Lapland Granulite Belt

In the paper the characteristics of fluid inclusions structure established on the basis of isotope-geochemical researches are resulted. The researches have shown that the received results can be a source of additional information for the question about protonature, reconstruction of formation conditions and metamorphism of rocks formed in ancient active zones of the Earth.

On the promising oil and gas content in the sedimentary rocks of the southwestern Kara-Barents Sea productive basin

As a result of isotope U-Pb dating of zircons, titanites and rutiles from rocks of the Por’ya guba area the following sequence of metamorphic events has been revealed for the Kolvitsa belt and the Umba block. The peak of granulite-facies metamorphism connected with the main stage of deformations took place before 1915±7 Ma ago. Decompression and cooling due to starting uplift of rocks began since 1915±7 Ma. Final stages of granulite-facies metamorphism were expressed in widely manifested diaphthoresis at 1909-1898 Ma, that was fixed in formation of high-U zircons. Since 1.92 Ga, metamorphic evolution of the Kolvitsa belt and the Umba block has become joint and synchronous with the Lapland Granulite and the Tanaelv belts. Cooling of rocks to 450 °C occurred 1880-1870 Ma ago, determined by the rutile age. Data on titanite and rutile ages with different closure temperatures for U-Pb system allow to calculate a gradient of cooling of rocks from 650-700° C to 400-450° as ~ 9.1 °/Ma.
